Creepy Kidz Bops
So, I’m sort of a hypocrite. I let my children listen to mildly inappropriate music and get a kick out of it when my daughter, 5, rocks out to Pink, singing:

But is my own personal amusement of it enough for me to market her to the masses via the all too creepy Kidz Bop series? I think not.
As a parent aware that much of the music of today is over sexualized and not meant for the preschool set, I purchased one of these CDs thinking both the kids and I would find it more enjoyable (and appropriate).
I was wrong.
Some of these songs are still inappropriate and, worse yet, horribly sung. Sure, they take out the cuss words, but these children are still singing about adult issues: love, breakups, drinking, etc.; topics that seem even more disturbing when sung by the grating voice of a 10 year old.
I think that the world would be a much better place if these CD’s did not exist.
In protest, I will continue to let my children rock out to today’s pop music in the comfort of our home and van, just hoping that their limit the more choice lyrics to familiar audiences.
As a concession, I will save my rap mixes from my own hard core youth until they are older and more seasoned by the world…maybe 10 or so.
Or, maybe as this parody on YouTube shows we could combine the two:
